What this is

Students around the world create paper butterflies that travel to one shared exhibition.

No competition. No curriculum. Just classrooms, scissors, paint, and the belief that a small object can carry a long story across a border.

01

International

One project. A world of stories.

Butterflies arrive from classrooms across continents, each one carrying a little piece of where it came from. Together, they turn distance into connection.

02

Butterflies

Small wings. A journey across the world.

Painted, folded, and signed by hand, no two butterflies are ever the same. Each one travels far from the hands that created it to become part of something bigger.

03

Cultural Identity

A piece of who you are, told in colour.

Symbols, patterns, memories, traditions. Students transform their wings into expressions of identity, creating a living mosaic of cultures and personal stories.

One shared wallExplore

The project began in Budapest. It continues wherever a community decides to take part.

Chapter 02

It begins with one pair of hands.

Then a classroom

A name, a language, a colour that is only theirs.

Then the world

Many individual stories become one shared world.

The living map

One artwork, held between many hands.

We are a growing community of educators and learners across all six continents — different in culture, language, shape, and size, yet connected by the same desire to create, share, and learn from one another.

Juan & Linda

Two years ago, this dream began with two educators, Juan and Linda, and one shared belief: that education could bring people closer, no matter the distance. What started as their determination to connect classrooms has since grown wings of its own.

The first butterfly

One drawing carried the whole idea across: a face from Zaragoza on one wing, Kayseri on the other. Two cultures on the same body — everything after it is an answer to this one.

This is where our shared journey comes to life.

Here, you’ll discover the butterflies created by each educational community, along with the stories, people, and places behind them. With every new contribution, another point appears on the map — slowly weaving a living network of classrooms, cultures, and communities across all six continents.

Chapters, not entries in a directory.
Each one opens the day their butterfly arrives.

How educational communities participate

01

Receive the project

A folder arrives: paper, instructions, and the story so far.

02

Create the butterflies

Every student makes one. Nothing is graded, nothing compared.

03

Become part of the exhibition

The butterflies travel and join the collective artwork.

The world is still unfolding.

Thousands of students have not created their butterfly yet. Perhaps yours will be next.

Every butterfly added to this artwork represents a student whose story becomes part of something larger.

There is no competition. There are no winners.

Only a growing collection of cultures connected through creativity.

Your classroom could become one of them.
